Ecotherapy is a nature-based method of physical and psychological healing combining ecology and therapy. Ecology is the study of the relationships of living
things – plants and animals – to each other and to their surroundings. Therapy concerns the treatment of a physical or mental disorder. While different forms of therapeutic process exist, our approach centres around a combination of walking, talking and being active outside, enabling healing to take place by bringing to mind aspects of our being that are often outside our awareness. We believe passionately that the natural world – nature, including all forms of wildlife, the elements and the changing seasons – has a fundamental role to play in this process. Many people in today’s modern, technological world find themselves increasingly separated from this source of health and well-being.
